Over the past year, our formal loot distribution system has been evolving, to keep up with the needs of the guild as it too has been evolving. We have gradually moved away from the DKP system that served us well in The Burning Crusade... as we began guild raiding for the first times... moving to an interim, simplified DKP system 7 months ago, then to the no-DKP system we use now. To reiterate, there is no more DKP.
We have been using and testing our current "loot council" system for several months, and it has been very successful. This is our current, formal method of loot distribution and the rules are as follow:
- Anyone who wants an item will indicate their interest when the item is presented by the loot master. Main specs get first priority, then off-specs, then vanity.
- Fools who are interested have the opportunity to settle the matter among themselves. This happens in many cases; the Fools have been gracious and thoughtful about passing an item to someone else who can use it more.
- If there are ultimately still two or more people who want the item, loot council will determine who gets it. The loot council is a made up of guild officers and raid leaders who will decide who gets the loot based on a number of criteria, including such things as which class the item is best for, whom it would be a bigger upgrade for, who has gotten loot lately, how much the bidders contribute to raiding and/or guild acitivities, and so on.
Pugging in guild raids: When there are people outside the Fools who are part of a guild raid, all interested people may /roll for an item. If a pugger wins the roll, they get the item. If a Fool wins the roll, it goes to the discussion/loot council method above. _________________
